Vice-President Kashim Shettima is set to deliver Nigeria’s national statement at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday, 24 September.
Mr Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the high-level gathering, which runs from 22 to 28 September. (Premium Times Nigeria)
Nigeria is scheduled to speak during the afternoon session of the General Debate, with the country listed as the fourth speaker. Mr Shettima is expected to address the assembly between 16:00 and 16:30 local time, according to the updated provisional speakers’ schedule. (TheStar)
In his address, the vice-president is expected to outline Nigeria’s position on major international issues, including peace and security, economic development, sustainable development and international cooperation.
He is also expected to advance Nigeria’s position on reforms to the global financial architecture and international institutions, as well as stronger representation for Africa in global decision-making. (FMINO)
The 81st General Assembly is being held under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
