The Kogi East APC Legacy Group has lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his administration’s rapid response to infrastructure deficits in Kogi East, following the commencement of procurement processes for critical road networks and the construction of nine secondary schools across the district.

The group’s commendation follows two recent public notices from state government agencies, indicating that key projects—previously highlighted in a memorandum submitted by the group to the Governor—have now moved into the formal contract-award stage.

Speaking on behalf of the group, spokesperson Dr. Johnson Musa stated that the development is clear evidence of a government that listens to its stakeholders.

“We thank Governor Ododo for listening and acting with speed. These roads and schools were among the top priorities we placed before him. Their listing for construction shows a government that keeps faith with its people,” Dr. Musa said.

**Strategic Road Interventions**
The Kogi State Ministry of Works recently invited tenders for several projects, two of which are vital corridors in Kogi East. These include the 37-kilometre Idah–Onyedega Road in Ibaji Local Government Area and the 13-kilometre Odenyi–Oguma–Sheria Road in Bassa.

The group noted that these roads are economic lifelines for the state. “These corridors are strategically important due to the high volume of agricultural and commercial activities. Their completion will ease the movement of farm produce, reduce transportation costs, and improve access to healthcare and essential services,” the group stated.

**Educational Boost via AGILE Program**
In addition to the road projects, the group welcomed the announcement by the Ministry of Education regarding the construction and upgrading of secondary schools under the World Bank-assisted AGILE (Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment) programme.

Nine schools in Kogi East—one in each Local Government Area—have been selected for either total construction, expansion, or upgrading to Senior Secondary status. The beneficiary schools include:

Ankpa UBE Junior Secondary School, Enjema (Upgrade)

Bassa : Government Science Secondary School, Oguma (Construction)
Dekina: UBE Junior Secondary School, Efakwu Egume (Expansion)
Ibaji: Government Secondary School, Onyedega (Construction)
Idah: Idah Secondary Commercial College (Construction)
Igalamela-Odolu:  UBE Junior Secondary School, Odolu (Expansion)
Ofu: UBE Junior Secondary School, Agojeju (Upgrade)
Olamaboro:  Community Secondary School (Construction)
Omala: Government Science Secondary School, Ogodu (Construction)

The APC Legacy Group described the distribution as “equitable,” ensuring that every local government in the district feels the impact of the administration’s developmental agenda.

While expressing gratitude, the group urged the Governor to maintain the momentum on other items contained in their developmental memorandum. These include the proposed national electric transmission substation, rural water schemes, the revitalization of general hospitals, and the sustainable development of coal and oil resources in Ankpa and Ibaji.

Dr. Musa also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the federal support facilitating these projects, reaffirming the group’s total support for the APC-led administration at both state and federal levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Kogi East stands firmly behind this administration. We believe sustained cooperation will further accelerate development across the state,” the statement concluded.
