The camp of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has debunked claims of a political pact between the governor and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, made the clarification on Sunday in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He insisted that Adeleke’s recent electoral victory was a reflection of the resilience and choice of the Osun electorate, rather than the product of any political deal.
The development followed a post by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, who had thanked Adeleke for what he described as the governor’s public endorsement of Tinubu for 2027.
Keyamo had written: “Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement.’”
Responding to the Minister, Olajengbesi cautioned against undermining the will of the voters.
“Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement,” Olajengbesi stated. “Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is based on his performance and reforms that have strengthened states economically. Osun people voted Adeleke. President Tinubu simply ensured democratic rules were respected.”
He added that while Adeleke’s camp commends the President for ensuring a level playing field during the election, the governor’s mandate remains entirely with the people of Osun.
