Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that he is not intimidated by the influence of the Federal Government as the state prepares for its governorship election.
Mr Adeleke described himself as a “bulldozer”, saying he was prepared to confront whatever political forces might be mobilised against him in the contest.
The governor’s remarks come amid growing political tension in Osun ahead of the election, with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the opposition All Progressives Congress expected to engage in a closely fought contest.
Adeleke, who is seeking to retain his seat, said his confidence was rooted in his administration’s record and his connection with the people of the state.
“I’m a bulldozer; I’m not afraid of federal might,” he said, according to a report by Punch.
The governor’s statement signals a willingness to run an assertive campaign despite the political weight that could be brought to bear at the federal level.
The Osun election is expected to attract significant national attention, particularly given the broader political rivalry between the PDP and APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeleke’s administration has repeatedly highlighted its projects and policies as evidence of its performance, while the opposition has continued to challenge the government’s record and political strength in the state.
With the election drawing closer, both camps are expected to intensify their mobilisation and campaign efforts as they seek to convince voters across Osun.
