The lawmaker consults with royal fathers, hosts Oba Irukera of Egbe, and engages constituents in a late-night interactive session to strengthen party unity ahead of elections.
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, embarked on an extensive constituency engagement tour over the weekend, meeting with political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and constituents across the district.
The weekend-long activities, which cut across several communities in Kogi West, were aimed at uniting the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the zone and reinforcing the lawmaker’s commitment to the development of the constituency.
Consolidating APC Unity
Senator Karimi began his tour by hosting key political leaders from across the seven local government areas of Kogi West. The strategic meetings focused on party alignment, resolving internal friction, and mobilizing support ahead of forthcoming elections.
“This weekend was another opportunity to engage directly with the people of Kogi West,” Karimi stated. “I met with key political leaders across the district to strengthen our party, promote unity, and reaffirm our shared commitment to the continued progress of our constituency and the overall success of the APC.”
Partnering with Traditional Institutions
Recognizing the critical role of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and local security, the lawmaker also hosted the Oba Irukera of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera, and his delegation.
Following the reception, Senator Karimi paid a royal courtesy visit to the Agbana of Isanlu Kingdom, Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi, in his palace.
During the visit, the lawmaker emphasized that traditional institutions remain indispensable partners in fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development. He pledged to continue working closely with royal fathers to attract state and federal presence to Kogi West.
Marathon Town Hall Meeting
The highlight of the weekend outreach was a town hall meeting held in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area, which drew a large crowd of youths, women groups, community leaders, and party faithful.
Demonstrating his commitment to participatory governance, the lawmaker stayed at the venue until the early hours of the morning, listening to the complaints, suggestions, and aspirations of the attendees.
Reflecting on the marathon session, Karimi said: “We remained until the early hours of the morning because every voice matters. I remain committed to accessible, people-focused representation.”
He urged constituents to remain united and support the APC-led administration at both the state and federal levels to ensure the continuous delivery of democratic dividends to the district.
