A judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Bunza, has regained his freedom after spending one week in the custody of kidnappers.
The judge was released following sustained security efforts, bringing an end to days of uncertainty over his whereabouts after he was abducted by armed assailants.
Police authorities confirmed the development, stating that although the kidnappers had demanded a ransom during negotiations, no payment was made to secure Justice Bunza’s release.
The police did not immediately disclose the circumstances surrounding his freedom or whether any arrests had been made in connection with the abduction. However, security agencies reiterated their commitment to tracking down those responsible and ensuring they are brought to justice.
The successful release of the judicial officer has been welcomed by members of the legal community and residents, who had expressed concern over the growing threat of kidnapping and attacks targeting public officials.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing, while efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities across the state remain a priority.
