Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has delivered a stern warning to armed bandit groups operating across the state, declaring that those responsible for violent attacks must either surrender unconditionally or face the full force of the law.

The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity through a combination of sustained security operations, intelligence-led interventions and community collaboration, stressing that there would be no room for negotiations that undermine justice or public safety.

Lawal said bandits willing to renounce violence and genuinely embrace peace should surrender their weapons and submit themselves to the appropriate authorities. However, he warned that those who refuse to do so would be pursued and dealt with in accordance with the law.

The governor reaffirmed that restoring lasting peace and security remains one of his administration’s highest priorities, noting that residents deserve to live without fear after years of deadly attacks, kidnappings and displacement caused by armed criminal groups.

He also called on citizens to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible intelligence, assuring the public that the state government would remain steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property.

Zamfara has remained one of Nigeria’s worst-hit states by banditry, with armed gangs frequently carrying out mass abductions, killings and attacks on rural communities. Authorities have continued to intensify military operations and other security measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring stability across the state.

Governor Lawal maintained that the government would not relent until those threatening the peace of Zamfara are brought to justice, insisting that bandits have only two choices: surrender peacefully or face the full weight of the law.
