The Kogi State Government has renewed its warning to public and private schools against organising extravagant graduation and sign-out ceremonies, saying institutions that flout the directive risk being shut down.
The government said the ban remains in force as part of efforts to promote discipline, reduce unnecessary financial pressure on parents and maintain the sanctity of the academic environment.
Education authorities warned that schools found holding lavish celebrations or encouraging activities that violate the directive would face strict sanctions, including possible closure.
Officials urged school administrators, parents and students to comply with the policy, stressing that end-of-session activities should be modest, orderly and focused on academic achievement rather than elaborate festivities.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the directive, insisting that schools must prioritise learning and uphold standards that reflect the values of the education sector.
