A prominent ally of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, former governor Olusegun Osoba, has alleged the existence of a coordinated political alliance in southern Nigeria aimed at undermining the president ahead of the 2027 elections.

Osoba, a veteran politician and member of Tinubu’s political circle, claimed that certain political actors in the South are working together in what he described as a “gang-up” against the president’s interests, warning that such developments could shape the direction of the country’s next general election cycle.

He did not, however, provide specific evidence or name individuals involved in the alleged arrangement.

The remarks add to early political manoeuvring and rhetoric building ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and stakeholders begin to position themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive race.
