Suspected armed abductors who seized schoolchildren and teachers from three schools in Esinele, Yamota, and Alawusa communities in south-western Oyo State have established communication with the state government, officials say.

The incident, which occurred in Oriire Local Government Area, has triggered heightened concern over school safety and security in the region, as authorities intensify efforts to secure the release of those taken.

According to preliminary information, the abductors initiated contact days after the coordinated attacks on the affected schools, though details of the communication remain undisclosed.

Security agencies and state officials are yet to confirm the demands made or the number of victims still in captivity.

The development marks a critical turn in the unfolding crisis, as negotiations are expected to shape the next phase of the government’s response to the abductions.
