Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has withdrawn from the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, citing what he described as infringements of the Electoral Act 2026.
Pantami announced his decision amid growing concerns over the conduct of the party’s internal electoral process, saying the alleged violations undermined transparency and fairness in the primaries.
The former minister said his withdrawal was a protest against irregularities that, according to him, compromised the credibility of the exercise.
His exit marks a major twist in the APC governorship contest in Gombe State, where political tensions have continued to build ahead of the party’s final selection process.
While the APC leadership has yet to formally respond to Pantami’s allegations, the development is likely to intensify scrutiny over the conduct of party primaries and internal democracy within Nigeria’s ruling party.
