Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has issued a strong warning over governance and insecurity, saying any government that fails to guarantee the safety of lives and property risks losing its legitimacy.
“The government that cannot guarantee security of life and property of its citizens has forfeited the right of existence,” Obasanjo stated, underscoring the central role of security in the social contract between the state and its citizens.
His remarks add to ongoing national conversations in Nigeria around rising security challenges and public trust in government institutions.
