In a move to ease financial preparations for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the Kogi State Government has authorised the immediate payment of March salaries to all civil servants across the state.
The approval, granted by Governor Usman Ododo, is aimed at ensuring workers can partake in the festivities without financial strain. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
According to Fanwo, the decision underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare, particularly during significant religious occasions.
“The early payment reflects the administration’s consistent dedication to prioritising the well-being of workers and ensuring that members of the state’s workforce are adequately supported, especially during important religious festivities,” Fanwo said.
He noted that the gesture has already elicited positive feedback from civil servants across the state, with many expressing appreciation for the timely intervention, which they say will aid in their Sallah preparations.
Fanwo reaffirmed the government’s resolve to maintain a high standard of worker welfare under Governor Ododo’s leadership, acknowledging the vital role of a motivated civil service in delivering quality services to the people of Kogi State.
The commissioner also extended warm wishes to the Muslim community for a blessed remainder of Ramadan and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is expected to be observed next week Friday, contingent on the sighting of the new moon.
