President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted six state governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for what officials described as a high-level strategy meeting focused on governance, security and economic coordination across the federation.
Those in attendance were Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi, and Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo.
The closed-door meeting, held at the State House, comes amid ongoing national efforts to deepen cooperation between the Federal Government and sub-national leaders on key priorities, including security stabilisation, food production, infrastructure delivery and fiscal reforms.
Although specific details were not immediately disclosed, Presidency sources said the discussions centred on aligning state-level initiatives with the administration’s broader economic recovery agenda.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with governors to accelerate development across all regions, noting that Nigeria’s progress relies on “shared responsibility and coordinated action”.
The governors, who arrived at different times, departed without addressing journalists. However, aides described the engagement as “constructive, forward-looking and essential for national cohesion”.
The meeting is part of a series of consultations the President has been holding with political, economic and security stakeholders as his administration pushes to strengthen collaboration across all tiers of government.
