The Peoples Democratic Party has constituted a 13-member National Convention Screening Committee to examine aspirants vying for national offices ahead of the party’s elective national convention scheduled for 15th and 16th November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
A statement released on 25th October 2025 by the National Convention Organising Committee and signed by its Chairman, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who doubles as Adamawa State Governor, announced that the screening exercise will hold on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.
Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), a former Ondo State governorship candidate and prominent legal practitioner, will chair the committee.
He will be supported by Hon. Mohammed L.S. Diri (SAN) as Deputy Chairman, whilst Mr Asue Ighodalo, Esq., will function as Secretary. Jacob Otorkpa was appointed Deputy Secretary.
Other members of the committee are Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Mrs Aduke Maina, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Achike Udenwa, Haj. Maryam Inna Ciroma, HM. Felix Hassan Hyat, HM. Zainab Maina, and Chinedu Nwachukwu, who will also function as Administrative Secretary.
The statement indicated that the composition demonstrated the PDP’s dedication to transparency, integrity, and internal democracy in preparation for its national convention.
“The NCOC notes and expects that the exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during this very crucial assignment will justify the confidence reposed by the Party in members of the Committee,” the statement read.
Fintiri gave assurances to party members that the screening process will be executed with the highest standards of fairness and impartiality, emphasising the PDP’s determination to strengthen its democratic structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“This exercise is crucial in ensuring that only credible, competent, and loyal members emerge to steer the affairs of our great party,” Fintiri stated.
The convention, which will take place in Ibadan, is expected to produce new national officers who will pilot the affairs of the opposition party in the coming years.
