Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has made history by becoming the first African to reach a net worth of $30 billion, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Dangote’s fortune has risen to $30.2 billion in 2025, marking an 8% increase since the start of the year — a gain of roughly $2.25 billion.

The surge in his wealth is driven by the strong performance of his cement, refinery, and fertiliser businesses, which continue to dominate their respective sectors across the continent.

This milestone further cements Dangote’s status as not only Africa’s wealthiest individual but also one of the most influential business figures in the global economy.
