Popular car influencer, Ola of Lagos, has dismissed reports linking him to ownership of the Skywise Group property recently demolished by the Lagos State Government, clarifying that he only leased a section of the premises for his car dealership.
Ola, in a video statement on Friday, explained that contrary to social media speculations, he never claimed ownership of the demolished building. He maintained that his business merely operated from the location under a lease agreement.
“I need to clear the confusion circulating on social media concerning the demolition of my car lot. I never claimed I was the owner of the Skywise Group property. I only leased a section for my business. The Lagos State Government demolished the building because some safety precautions were not taken, not that I was targeted,” Ola said.
He further stressed that the demolition was not a personal attack or an attempt to frustrate his business but a regulatory measure by the government to enforce safety compliance.
“The action was not directed at me. It was a government exercise based on identified safety violations. People should verify facts before spreading wrong information,” he added.
The clarification comes after a wave of online criticism and allegations, notably from activist Deji Adeyanju, who accused Ola of falsely presenting himself as the property owner.
The controversy had sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many users questioning the circumstances surrounding the demolition.
Ola appealed to the public to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified claims, insisting that the entire situation stemmed from a misunderstanding of his business arrangement with the property owners.
According to the Lagos State Government, the demolition formed part of an ongoing enforcement drive to ensure strict adherence to building and safety standards across the state.
The development has since reignited conversations about regulatory enforcement and accountability in Lagos’ fast-growing automobile and property sectors.
