The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its highly anticipated 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025. This decision was made following an emergency session of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Abuja.

In a statement released on X by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the postponement was attributed to “recent developments” within the party, which necessitated the delay. Ologunagba elaborated, saying: “Distinguished members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) may recall that the 103rd NEC meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, 15th October, 2025. However, in light of recent developments in the party, the National Working Committee (NWC), in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 29 (2)(b) of the Constitution (as amended in 2017), has approved the postponement of the meeting to a new date, which will be communicated to members in due course.”

The NWC’s decision has been seen as a necessary step in managing internal party dynamics amidst mounting pressure from defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP, facing a significant exodus of members, particularly from its strongholds, is striving to maintain unity and cohesion as it prepares for its upcoming National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, slated for November 15-16, 2025.

In response to the defections, prominent figures within the party, including PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, have remained resolute. Mohammed, in a recent statement, stressed that “neither political defections nor any external force can derail the party’s National Convention,” reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to its leadership and agenda for the future.

As the PDP navigates these challenges, all members of the NEC have been urged to stay alert for further updates from the party’s national secretariat regarding the new date for the postponed meeting. The NWC is expected to provide more details as soon as developments unfold.
