Nigerian Army’s Army’s 12 Brigade have successfully eliminated numerous bandits in ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace to troubled communities across Kogi State. Operation Egwua A Tite II, which began on September 1, 2025, continues to make significant progress in stabilizing the region.
According to Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade in Lokoja, soldiers from the 126 Battalion, under the leadership of their Commanding Officer and supported by Other Hybrid Forces (OHF), engaged bandits in the Tunga general area. The firefight resulted in the neutralization of two bandits.
To boost the troops’ morale and expand the offensive, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, commander of the 12 Brigade and Force Commander of Operation Accord III, personally led further operations in the area. These efforts destroyed several bandit camps while maintaining a strong presence through ongoing patrols and ambushes to prevent further insurgent activity.
On September 2, acting on reliable intelligence, the troops launched an air assault on bandits in Ankomi with support from the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group. The air operation led to the elimination of dozens of fleeing bandits.
The following day, the 126 Battalion conducted clearance missions in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities. During the operation, Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children were rescued safely and have since been reunited with their family. Additionally, troops recovered five locally made Dane guns.
The fight intensified on September 5 during a fierce gun battle near Tunga’s bandit hideout. Intelligence-led assaults resulted in the death of Kachalla Bala, a notorious bandit commander, along with five others. On the same day, soldiers successfully ambushed a bandit logistics courier along the Agbede–Adankoo Bridge (Mosalanci Boka), a known supply route. The ambush led to the recovery of a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The Nigerian Army affirms its commitment to rooting out criminal elements and restoring lasting peace to Kogi State through collaborative efforts and continued military vigilance.
