Kaye Furo, son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, marked a memorable senior debut for Club Brugge during their emphatic 6-0 victory against Rangers in the UEFA Champions League playoff second leg at Jan Breydel Stadium.
The 18-year-old forward entered the match in the 68th minute, replacing Nicolò Tresoldi, as Brugge secured a commanding 9-1 aggregate win to qualify for the group stage. Despite limited time on the pitch, Furo impressed the home crowd with glimpses of his potential.
Tresoldi set the tone by scoring inside five minutes, while a swift red card for Rangers’ Max Aarons sabotaged any hopes of a comeback. Goals from Hans Vanaken, a brace by Joaquin Seys, Aleksandar Stanković, and Christos Tzolis completed the dominant display.
Just a week before the match, Furo signed a contract extension keeping him at Club Brugge until July 2027, reflecting the club’s confidence in his talent and future prospects.
On the international front, Furo has represented Belgium at youth levels and became provisionally cap-tied to Belgium’s U17 side in March 2024 after featuring in a UEFA European Championship qualifier against Finland. He notably replaced fellow Nigerian-Belgian striker Chike Van De Ven during that game.
