Anita Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed plans to venture into politics, expressing deep concern over the underdevelopment and poor governance in Rivers State.
The former Big Brother Naija star, who hails from Port Harcourt, made her intentions known during a recent interview with media personality Ebuka. She criticised the current state of affairs in her home state, describing the leadership as failing to harness the region’s vast potential and youth talent.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos, and I see how far they’ve come, and with the potential Rivers State has, they’re not trying to exploit it,” Tacha said. “It’s just very disappointing because there are so many youths, so many talents there, so many things that if the government can see light into, a lot can happen.”
Tacha, known for her bold personality and outspoken views, stressed the need for more youth participation in governance. According to her, staying on the sidelines and criticising the system is no longer enough.
“It is something I’m working on,” she disclosed when asked directly about contesting a political position. “I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense granting interviews like this, talking about the government without being involved.”
While she stopped short of stating the exact office she intends to contest for, Tacha hinted that her political blueprint is already in motion and would be made public once plans are more concrete.
In addition to her political aspirations, the reality TV star also revealed her plans to attempt breaking a Guinness World Record for the most makeup applications in 24 hours. Her target: 150 people.
