Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has remained silent following accusations of unruly conduct made against him by Air Peace Airline.
The local airline alleged that the senator disrupted passenger services at the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, after missing his scheduled flight to Abuja on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Air Peace said Oshiomhole arrived at the airport at 6:10 a.m. for a 6:30 a.m. flight, only to find that the aircraft had departed minutes earlier. The airline maintained that, in line with their strict on-time departure policy, the boarding process was closed before his arrival.
According to the airline, Senator Oshiomhole physically blocked the terminal gate, preventing other passengers from accessing the terminal. The airline accused him of assaulting staff and barricading the entrance, causing significant disruption to airport operations and inconveniencing numerous travelers.
The statement, titled “Unruly Conduct by Prominent Politician at Lagos Airport: Air Peace Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Violence,” condemned the senator’s actions and emphasized the airline’s commitment to discipline, integrity, and respect for due process.
“To minimize further inconvenience, Air Peace activated an operational contingency plan to board affected passengers through an alternate terminal,” the statement added.
Air Peace reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on violence or aggression against staff and passengers, urging all travelers to remain civil and cooperative, given the strict timelines and safety protocols governing aviation operations.
Efforts to reach Senator Oshiomhole for comment were unsuccessful. Repeated calls and messages to his mobile phone went unanswered as of the time of publication.
