A highly contentious video has emerged, featuring an anonymous Nigerian Army officer who levels serious accusations against Major General A.E. Abubakar, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai. The officer claims General Abubakar is prioritizing development projects for Fulani communities over the protection of villages under siege by suspected herdsmen, leading to widespread destruction and civilian casualties.
In the viral clip, seen by SaharaReporters, the unnamed soldier vehemently criticizes General Abubakar, stating, “Major General A.E Abubakar, if you find this video, the reason why I’m dragging you is because you are not doing well.”
The officer alleges that reports of attacks and killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Plateau State and other areas were brought to General Abubakar’s attention, but no action was taken to protect the victims. He further claims that military leadership under Abubakar has focused on constructing schools and boreholes for Fulani communities, even as other villages are being razed and their inhabitants killed.
“You didn’t do anything when Fulani began to attack village after village, you heard them because they were brought to your table, you did not do anything,” the soldier asserts. He adds that angry villagers have turned against soldiers, accusing them of complicity or inaction while their communities are destroyed.
The soldier also alleges that the Nigerian Army has effectively turned its personnel into laborers, building infrastructure for Fulani communities in remote areas, while ignoring the plight of displaced residents. He questioned the absence of rehabilitation centers for those whose homes have been destroyed. “You are doing contract work; you are military personnel. What concern military personnel with projects when Fulani destroy people, burn people’s houses. You people are busy building schools and boreholes for Fulani.”
Expressing his inability to remain silent, the officer recounted the pleas of villagers who complain of killings and destruction by suspected herdsmen. He condemned the alleged prioritization of development work for the very groups accused of perpetrating these attacks.
The soldier did not mince words in his condemnation of General Abubakar’s leadership, calling him “a bad leader” who “destroyed Plateau State” and has now brought similar issues to Maiduguri. He further accused the General of being “wicked” and not committed to improving Nigeria’s security.
In a more personal attack, the officer questioned General Abubakar’s personal wealth, asking about his salary, entitlements, and the quality of education his children receive, contrasting it with the dangers faced by soldiers under his command.
The most damning accusation came when the soldier directly linked General Abubakar’s alleged inaction to his ethnicity, stating, “Did you give a clear rank command that soldiers should clear everywhere? No, because you are Fulani. You are in support of the Fulani.” He claims that Fulani are allowed to “bomb people’s houses, kill people and you don’t have anything to do.”
