The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed rumors that he plans to return to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing such reports as baseless and illogical.

Responding to former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido’s prediction that the APC would disintegrate and that defectors—including Ganduje—would return to the PDP, Ganduje, through his Chief Press Secretary Edwin Olofu, said it is instead Lamido who may soon seek refuge in the APC.

“Rather than me going to the PDP, we will soon receive Sule Lamido into our fold. Very soon, he won’t have anywhere to go. The PDP is dead,” Ganduje stated in a Monday statement from Abuja.

He further predicted the total collapse of the PDP by the end of 2025, citing persistent internal crises within the opposition party.

“It is evident to any discerning observer that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC continues to gain momentum, with prominent political figures defecting to the party in large numbers,” the statement added.

Ganduje emphasized that the APC remains focused on consolidating its achievements and preparing for a “resounding victory” in the 2027 general elections. He reaffirmed his commitment to leading the largest political party in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, with priorities on deepening internal democracy and promoting sustainable governance.

He also urged Lamido to concentrate on resolving the PDP’s internal challenges rather than engaging in speculative remarks.

Ganduje concluded by assuring Nigerians that the APC remains united, focused, and determined to deliver on its mandate.
