Niger State, – Hon. Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fuel tanker explosion that occurred in Dikko, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State on January 18th, 2025.
In a condolence message, Hon. MaiBasira described the incident as “heartbreaking, unfortunate, and painful on a monumental scale.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the government of Niger State, and the entire Dikko community.
“Official counts indicate that the explosion led to at least 86 fatalities with another minimum of 50 people suffering from severe burns,” the lawmaker stated. “This news is devastating and truly tragic. May Allah SWT grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed.”
Hon. MaiBasira emphasized the need for stricter road traffic and road safety regulations. He highlighted that the incident serves as a stark reminder of the growing dangers posed by heavy-duty vehicles on Nigerian roads.
“This latest incident underscores the multifaceted social and security challenges our communities face,” he said. “We must take decisive action to prevent such tragedies from recurring.”
Hon. MaiBasira concluded by offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured and continued support for all those affected by this devastating event.
