Ahead of the 2027 general election, with heightened political tension in Nasarawa State, it’s either you subject yourself to complete loyalty as a political office holder or face the wrath of your paymaster.
This is what was witnessed today when Governor Abdullahi Sule’s sledge hammer landed on the head of his Special Adviser and one-time Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Honourable Mohammed Baba Shehu.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council, Dr. Idris Ahmed Damagani, has terminated the appointment of Dr. Ibrahim Bala (Moscolo) as Council Secretary.
The termination of the appointment of the governor’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs was announced in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, on Thursday.
According to the statement, Baba Shehu had violated the circular issued in September 2025 restraining political appointees from identifying with any intending aspirant before the lifting of the ban on political activities by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also, in a letter signed by the keffi council’s Director of Admin/DPM, Usman Zubairu Egya, stating the reason for sacking the Keffi Council Secretary, it reads: “The termination of the appointment follows a query over utterances made on January 11, 2026, which he failed to respond to in good time.”
“The social media utterances were unethical, worrisome, and capable of truncating peaceful coexistence in the area and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the local and state levels,” the letter stated.
The letter described the utterances as unbearable, showing disrespect to constituted authority, elders, and stakeholders, noting that Moscolo, a seasoned Estate Surveyor and Valuer, had recently taken sides with former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, for the party ticket ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State.
“This position, however, is against the zoning agitation by stakeholders of the ruling party in Nasarawa West, led by the first Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and former National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.”
