The National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, is missing from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The document, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, contains 17 governorship candidates and their running mates. However, neither Gwarzo nor any other candidate under the NDC features on the 3-page list.
A review of the document shows candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC)—including Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf—and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Others include the Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and New Democratic Party (NDP).

Despite the inclusion of these parties, the NDC and its standard-bearer remain absent.
The INEC document details the names, parties, ages, genders, and educational qualifications of the contestants and their deputies, but offers no explanation for Gwarzo’s exclusion.
It remains unclear whether the omission stems from issues with the party’s nomination process, documentation, or other factors, leaving the NDC’s participation in the upcoming election in doubt.
