Former Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Prince Sani Ogu Salisu, has formally declared interest to contest the Kogi East Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.

In a letter of intent dated 27th April, 2026, and addressed to the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ezzu Aliyu Momoh, Salisu said his aspiration is built on “a consistent record of loyalty, service, and sacrifice to the APC in Kogi State since its formation.”
The former commissioner listed his party credentials to include: Interim State Youth Leader at the formation of APC in 2014, State House of Assembly aspirant same year, Director of Youth Mobilization for the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council in 2015 and 2019, Commissioner for Transportation in 2016, Commissioner for Youth and Sports in 2017, and his current role as Senior Technical Advisor to Governor Ododo on Advocacy, Youth Mobilization and Influence.
Salisu disclosed that he had “concluded wide consultations with party elders, stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups across the nine Local Government Areas of Kogi East” before the declaration.
“In line with the New Direction policy of entrusting leadership to competent, tested members of the younger generation, I present myself as a loyal party man, a bridge-builder, and a unifier,” he stated, adding that his ambition “is not in conflict with that of any other party faithful.”
He sought the “fatherly blessings, counsel, and support of the State Working Committee” as he commences the journey.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the APC Zonal Chairman, Kogi East; LGA Chairman, Idah; and Ward Chairman, Ukwaja Ward.
