The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday threw open the gates for new members, rolling out a hybrid manual-online registration platform the party says is the launch pad for grabbing federal power in 2027.
National Chairman, Senator David Mark, who flagged off the exercise in Abuja, warned against the hoarding of membership cards, a practice he claims is common in rival parties.
“Our cards will not sleep in anybody’s bedroom. Once you pick them up, get out on the street and register every willing Nigerian,” Mark told ward chairmen and state officials. “Friend or foe, as long as you accept our rules, you’ll get a card. This is the first concrete step toward forming the next federal government.”
Chairman of the Registration Committee, Alhaji Imam Ibrahim, said the party ditched both a traditional website and a downloadable app after studying the crash and download-fatigue problems that plague such options.
“We built a light web-app instead. It works on any browser, needs no installation and won’t buckle under traffic,” Ibrahim explained.
He added that cards would be printed only on request, beginning with an interim batch of 50,000 shipped to each state to jump-start the process.
National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, used his address to caution that “a party of ghosts” cannot win elections or run a government, stressing that the ADC must know—and be able to reach—every registered member.
The registration portal is now live, with manual counters operating simultaneously in all 36 states and the FCT.
