The future of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in winning subsequent elections is uncertain due to persistent crises at the top. Honourable Umar Musa Galadima expressed this concern in an exclusive interview with Observers Times in Keffi, emphasizing that until the party addresses its internal issues, its future in 2027 remains bleak.
Galadima, the PDP flag bearer for Nasarawa West Senate in the 2023 election, lamented the ongoing crisis at the national level, which is affecting various state chapters and causing well-meaning party members to defect to other parties.
Describing the internal crisis as unfortunate, Galadima expressed optimism that it can be resolved through dialogue. He emphasized that the court is not the solution to the party’s problems.
According to Galadima, the problem lies in meeting with agitated groups and compiling their grievances to resolve the internal issues amicably. He called on the PDP leadership to reconsider their approach and address the party’s problems.
Regarding his interest in aspiring for the Senate in 2027, Galadima stated that he is preparing for the upcoming election but prioritizes resolving the internal crisis within the party over personal interests.
Galadima, a traditional title holder of Marmara in Nasarawa Local Government Area, condemned the recent chaos during the BOT meeting, describing it as shameful and unexpected from the party’s higher executive body.
He emphasized that the PDP needs to return to the drawing board, address its internal issues, and prioritize the party’s interests to regain its strength and integrity. Galadima reiterated that the PDP is a respected party with a structure and respected individuals, and it would be wise to continue its legacies to sustain its membership and integrity.
