In a troubling continuation of banditry affecting rural communities across Nigeria, bandits robbed a man of his Christmas food supplies in the Gidan Abe community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident, confirmed by a local community leader, occurred on Saturday around 5:23 PM.
The victim, traveling by motorcycle, had just purchased a bag of rice, drinks, and other condiments from Katari for the upcoming Christmas celebrations. As he made his way back to Gidan Abe village, he was intercepted by bandits also on motorcycles. The assailants blocked his path and commandeered the food items before speeding away, leaving him unharmed.
This is another case of persistent insecurity plaguing the region, where banditry has become an unsettling norm. Communities across Kaduna State have frequently been targeted, with bandits engaging in theft, kidnapping, and extortion. Despite security efforts, these criminal activities continue to disrupt daily life and instill fear among residents.
The Kaduna State Police Command, through its spokesman ASP Hassan Mansur, has yet to confirm the details of the latest incident. This adds to a growing list of unconfirmed reports, leaving residents anxious and feeling unsupported in their plight against bandit-related crime.
