The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), Chief Saviour Enyiekere, has described the staff of the National Assembly as the indispensable “engine room” driving the nation’s democratic growth.

In a message commemorating the 2026 May Day celebrations in Abuja, Dr. Enyiekere lauded the workers for their resilience and dedication, describing their role as the “sinew and spine” upon which the stability of the National Legislature rests.

“Your mandate is the foundation of our legislative strength,” the Chairman stated, while praising the professionalism of the staff in sustaining the operations of one of Nigeria’s most critical democratic institutions.

Reflecting on his first Workers Day since the inauguration of the 6th Commission in May 2025, Dr. Enyiekere used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to staff motivation. He assured the workforce that the NASC is actively implementing reforms aimed at enhancing welfare, career progression, and the general working environment.

“The Commission is already taking steps to implement policies that will positively impact staff wellbeing and productivity,” he said, urging workers to remain steadfast and committed to excellence. He further assured them that their sacrifices would continue to be recognized and rewarded through improved service conditions.
