Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stark political warning to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saying he would push for his impeachment if he attempts to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a strongly worded remark, Wike declared that any move by Fubara to defect from the party would trigger immediate political consequences, insisting that the governor must remain within the APC fold.

“If he dares to decamp, I will impeach him and heaven will not fall. He must remain in APC,” Wike was quoted as saying.

The comment adds fresh tension to the already strained political landscape in Rivers State, where alignments and rival factions within the ruling party have continued to fuel uncertainty over loyalty, control, and influence.

Neither Fubara nor the APC has issued an official response to the statement at the time of reporting.
