ABUJA – The Nigerian Democratic Front (NDF) has issued a stern warning to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, urging them to refrain from actions that betray Northern interests as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
The NDF alleges that their recent criticisms of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed are part of a deliberate strategy to undermine the region’s political influence and hinder the emergence of a viable presidential candidate from the North.
In a statement released by National Spokesperson Engr. Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, the group called on Northerners to reject the actions of Dogara and Tuggar, emphasizing the need to end the practice of political opportunism.
The statement read: “These individuals are not champions of justice or accountability. While Governor Mohammed may not be without flaws—no politician is—he has distinguished himself as a courageous leader who prioritizes the needs of the people over corrupt political elites.
“His stance against governmental maladministration and his readiness to confront injustice have made him a target for political opportunists.
“Rather than collaborating with Governor Mohammed to advocate for the region’s interests, these two have chosen to align with those who seek to marginalize the North.
“The era of political mercenaries masquerading as patriots must come to an end. The questionable tactics employed by Dogara and Tuggar should be condemned and disregarded for the greater good of our region.”
