Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared himself a hero of Nigeria’s democracy for ensuring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lost the 2023 presidential election.
Wike dismissed claims that ex-Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal was the “hero” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in 2022, insisting the real test was the election itself.
“I became the hero of democracy by making sure Atiku lost in the real election. He didn’t get 5% in Rivers in 2023, and he won’t get 5% in 2027. His defeat will be resounding,” Wike said in an interview.
The minister also mocked Atiku for repeatedly citing hunger as justification for switching parties, accusing him of lacking consistency and credibility.
