Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency in Rivers State, describing the decision as a restoration of democratic governance.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the President’s move reflected his commitment to peace and the protection of democracy.

He noted that Tinubu’s intervention not only averted prolonged instability but also renewed the confidence of Rivers people in his leadership.

The minister urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the President while calling on political stakeholders in the state to work together in harmony.

Warning against “fifth columnists” seeking to exploit divisions, Wike declared: “From Rivers State going forward, the only news that will emanate will be that of peace, progress and development.”
