Voting in a polling unit in Nigeria’s north-east has delivered a decisive result for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as official figures showed a landslide win in Mafa Ward of Borno State.

The state governor, Babagana Zulum, was among early voters at the ward, where he joined residents to cast his ballot.

According to results announced at the polling unit, Tinubu secured 2,175 votes, while his challenger, Stanley Osifo, received 0 votes.

The outcome reflects overwhelming support for the president in the area, as local party agents and election officials concluded the count under close observation.

Mafa Ward, located within Borno State, has historically been a stronghold in regional voting patterns, and turnout was described as steady during the exercise.

Officials are expected to collate results from other wards across the state as the wider electoral process continues.
