    NNPCL Recorded N481 Billion Profit in April – Official

    The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) says it has recorded N481 billion Profit After Tax (PAT) for April 2026.

    The development represents a sharp jump from the N276 billion posted in March, the company said in the April Monthly Report Summary released on its X handle.

    The company said its crude oil and condensate production rose to 1.68 million barrels per day (mmbopd) in April, representing a 7.69 per cent increase from the March production level.

    The NNPC Ltd. said revenue from oil hit N4.971 trillion for the month, up from N2.77 trillion recorded in March 2026, representing a 79.23 per cent increase.

    The report indicated that gas production remained largely stable at 7,730 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), compared with 7,731 mmscf/d recorded in March.

    It added that cumulative statutory payments for the period January to April 2026 stood at N3.714 trillion.

    The company highlighted the successful completion of the OB3 River Niger Crossing Project as one of its major milestones during the period.

    It also noted continued progress on construction and installation activities along the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline mainline, aimed at achieving early gas delivery to Abuja in 2026.

    The report further outlined the strategic initiatives undertaken during the month aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and enhancing operational performance.

    NNPC Limited Appoints New Corporate Communications, Relations Chiefs

    NNPC Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of two seasoned executives, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to key leadership positions. Mr. Odeh assumes the role of Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Adewunmi has been appointed Chief Relations Officer.

    Mr. Odeh brings over three decades of extensive experience in communications and business administration across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. Prior to joining NNPC, he had a distinguished 26-year career at Nigeria LNG (NLNG). There, he held various leadership roles in Community Relations and Development; Business Logistics and Services; Information Management and Technology; Corporate Communications and Public Affairs; Government Relations and Regulatory Compliance, and most recently, General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development.

    He is recognised for his work on major public relations and advertising campaigns for top brands. At NLNG, he successfully managed the company’s rebranding and implemented one of Nigeria’s best-run micro-credit schemes for host communities. Mr. Odeh was also instrumental in instituting the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. He is an alumnus of the University of Jos, the University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), among others.

    Mrs. Adewunmi is a legal professional with over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Her expertise is in stakeholder management and advocacy, particularly from her extensive tenure at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). She is highly regarded for her ability to navigate complex external landscapes, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting the company’s “License to operate”.

    At Shell, she held key roles, including Regulatory Affairs Manager, where she managed all mandatory regulatory engagements and permits. As the Government Relations Manager, she built and maintained constructive relationships with the Presidency, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. Mrs. Adewunmi is known for her strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build robust stakeholder networks. She is a subject matter expert on non-technical risks and has a background in law from the Nigerian Law School and Olabisi Onabanjo University.

    The appointment of Mr. Odeh and Mrs. Adewunmi reflects NNPC Limited’s commitment to enhancing communication and engagement with stakeholders.

    The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has extended a formal invitation to former President Olusegun Obasanjo to tour the Port Harcourt Refinery, aiming to clarify its operational status. This invitation comes in response to Obasanjo’s recent statements during an interview with Channels Television, where he expressed skepticism about the refinery’s functionality based on advice from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

    In his interview, Obasanjo claimed that SPDC, which had been approached for potential equity in the refinery, raised concerns about corruption hindering operations. He further accused NNPCL of misleading the Nigerian public regarding the refinery’s capabilities.

    In a statement addressing these claims, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability. He reiterated the invitation for Obasanjo to visit the facility and witness the progress made under the new NNPCL framework.

    “Furthermore, we extend an open invitation to President Obasanjo for a tour of the rehabilitated refineries to witness firsthand the progress made under the new NNPC Limited,” Soneye stated.

    He added that the company would welcome Obasanjo’s involvement in efforts to ensure Nigeria’s energy security, highlighting the value of his experience and insights.

    Soneye explained that the NNPCL has undergone significant transformations, moving beyond traditional oil and gas operations to become an integrated energy company. This includes a comprehensive overhaul of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PhRC) and the Warri Refinery, which he described as a full-scale rehabilitation aimed at meeting international standards.

    He noted, “This process was not merely the Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) of the past but a full-scale overhaul designed to meet world-class standards. Similarly, we are currently conducting the same comprehensive rehabilitation of the old Port Harcourt Refinery and the Kaduna Refinery.”

    Soneye also highlighted the transition of NNPCL from a government corporation to a private entity with limited liability, marking a shift from a loss-making organization to a profit-driven international energy firm.

    The new NNPC Limited is dedicated not only to enhancing the refineries but also to maintaining them to global standards, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s energy security.

    In response to Obasanjo’s recent comments, Soneye clarified the current state of the NNPC, stating, “The NNPC has undergone a transformative journey, evolving from a government corporation into a private entity—NNPC Limited. This transition has marked a significant shift from being a loss-making organization to a profit-oriented global energy company.”

    He expressed deep respect for Obasanjo, acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s progress. “We remain grateful for his leadership and enduring commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria. Together, we can continue to build a brighter future for our great nation,” Soneye concluded.

    Additionally, when asked about media reports suggesting that NNPCL would cease crude oil supply to Dangote Refinery, Soneye dismissed the claims, stating, “No need to respond to falsehood.”
