    “I Didn’t Steal a Naira!” Ex-NNPC Boss Kyari Denies EFCC Arrest.

    Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mele Kyari, has dismissed reports that he is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing them as “mischievous” and “calculated disinformation.”

    Kyari, in a statement issued following a wave of concern sparked by the reports, and which was shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, said the claims were deliberately designed to achieve an unknown agenda and urged the public to treat them with scepticism.

    He insisted that he has not been detained and is currently taking a well-earned rest following the recent dissolution of the NNPCL management and board.

    “Over the past few days, and particularly in the past two hours, I have been inundated with calls from family and friends over claims by an online newspaper that I was in EFCC custody.

    ” This is clear mischief and a calculated attempt by the newspaper and its sponsors to achieve a desired outcome, which only they know,” he said.

    Kyari, who served the national oil company for 34 years—17 of which were in management roles, including five years and nine months as chief executive—said he rarely had time for even a two-week leave during his tenure.

    He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    Reflecting on his time in office, Kyari emphasised that he executed his duties with integrity and the fear of accountability, both before human institutions and a higher power.

    He said he remains ready to respond to all legitimate questions regarding his stewardship.

    “I am willing and happy to account for my stewardship in this world. However, it is important to state that the resort to disinformation does not serve anyone’s purpose, whether the NNPCL or the country in general, as it has the potential to send the wrong signals to investors and the international community,” he warned.

    The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has challenged the dubious protest staged by fictitious groups calling for the sack and probe of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).

    The obscure groups, Northern Youth Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative and Arewa Youth Forum also called on the federal government to suspend the Executive Vice President (Upstream), Adokye Tombomieye, Managing Director, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) Ali Muhammed Zahra, and Managing Director, National Petroleum Investment Management Services and Bala Wunti.

    But AYCF in a statement signed by its President Shettima Yerima noted with deep concern that sponsored individuals masquerading as members of fictitious Northern Nigerian Youth Groups are behind the incessant misinformation campaign for the removal of Mele Kyari as Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL.

    However, we are pleased that most Nigerians who possess discernment and indeed Federal Government have dismissed this protest as it was orchestrated by selfish individuals seeking their own interests rather than those which benefit Nigerians collectively.

    It should be common knowledge now that under Mele Kyari’s leadership, NNPCL has recorded tremendous accomplishments in Nigeria’s oil sector. These endeavors have been advantageous to Nigerians and propelled Nigeria’s economy forward. One major achievement is environmental pollution reduction; strategic measures put in place by NNPCL ensure safeguarding and preservation of our environment resulting in significant reduction levels of pollution making it safer for citizens.

    Another milestone recorded by NNPCL is Port Harcourt’s absence from black soot lately due to commitment towards environmental safety which has resulted in cleaner air quality for its inhabitants. Foreign ships’ presence illegally stealing crude oil from Nigeria waters drastically reduced following stringent measures put in place under Mele Kyari’s watch at NNPCL; this led to a considerable decline in illegal crude sales thereby increasing revenue generated by Nigeria’s government.

    Furthermore, during his tenure leading NNPCl production output increased tremendously seeing Nigeria regain Africa’s top crude oil producer position ahead Angola while boosting foreign reserves helping attract more investments into our oil industry resulting renewed investment activities within this sector generating jobs opportunities through Tantita subsidiary reducing attacks on pipelines thus improving security installations across Nigeria.

    NNPCL performance service delivery under Mele Kyari leadership demonstrates great strides taken within petroleum industry development contributing significantly towards national security improvements protecting territorial integrity against ungoverned areas like Niger Delta where vessels would bring about threats causing social crises through destructions carried out there.Under his watchful eyes at NNPLC he made significant strides developing Nigerian petroleum industry further enhancing operational efficiencies taking proactive steps sustaining growth driving innovations achieving various milestones whilst prioritizing stakeholders’ interests both locally & globally.

    As patriotic Nigerians we commend outstanding leadership demonstrated at NNPLC call on him continue doing what he does best driving growth /development throughout entire petroleum Industry encouraging all fellow countrymen to remain vigilant rejecting any attempt(s) whereby selfish individuals use guise civil society advancing their own self-interests over those benefiting us all collectively,” Yerima stressed.

  • 65 CSO group holds for Kyari, Tompolo in Abuja

    The Coalition of 65 Civil Society Organisation holds a solidarity rally in support of the transformation stride of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kolo Kyari and other top executives, Adokiye Tombomieye, Mr. Wunto Bala of the company on Monday.

    The Coalition which cuts across the six geopolitical zones have kicked against the malicious and baseless protest Organised earlier against the top management of the NNPCL and Chief High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo by a so-called group ‘Northern Youths Advocacy for good Governance and Arewa Youths Group.

    Speaking to Journalists, the Convener, Dr Hamza Talba said ” we’re here this evening to counter a sponsored group who called themselves Northern youths Advocacy and Arewa who came to Protest against the top executives of the NNPCL Management.

    “Ordinarily, we shouldn’t have responded to the event that took place at the prestigious NNPCL Tower in our nation Capital but because they have the intention to cause choas and raise eyebrows against the workaholic management of NNPCL.

    ” It becomes necessary to respond in this order to categorically state that Kyari and his team have been working tirelessly to ensure enough availability of the petrol products to curb activities of oil thefts in the sector.

    “With the space of military coup accross African countries it’s unfair for the protesters to distract the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians that can lead the country into anarchy and tension.

    ” The protesters were not able to establish rational objectives to back their claims that are factual rather they were sponsored to maliciously tarnish the image of NNPCL GCEO and other top executives.

    ” we sympathizes with the baseline sentiment as we genuine Arewa Youths are resolute and fully grounded to support the affairs of the oil mangers.

    Dr. Talba stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working round the clock to provide Palliatives to cushion the suffering of Nigerians with the removal fuel subsidy.

    He appealed to those that are aggrieved with the limestone performance of the NNPCL Management Team should a legal means to table their groans not resorting to cheap protest.

    Also Speaking a Co-Convener, Comrade Momos Wilberforce emphasized that the top management of NNPCL are technocrats and not Politicians therefore people shouldn’t drag them into politics through baseless protest

    He appealed to President Tinubu to renew the pipeline surveillance contract to Chief Tompolo which was awarded to him by the previous government.

    According to him Chief Tompolo is doing an exceptional work by eliminating the activities of oil thefts in the Niger Delta Region.

    ” To avoid continuous illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta region considering we’re appealing to Mr. President to renew the contract of pipeline surveillance by Chief Tompolo considering his effective monitoring by bringing the situation to calm.

    He also on the NNPCL Management to expand the budgetary of the pipeline surveillance contract to include other leaders in the region.

    The highlights of the event was that the solidarity rally witnessed massive women and youths displaying placards and chatting songs in support of the NNPCL Management Team and Chief Tompolo.
