    The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to Senator Ali Ndume, the former Senate Chief Whip, following his recent comments suggesting that President Bola Tinubu could face electoral defeat in 2027 similar to the fate of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 if urgent reforms are not enacted.

    Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday. He cautioned that the current economic hardships and rising public discontent could lead to electoral disaster for the Tinubu administration, much like Jonathan’s unexpected loss in the last elections.

    “Tinubu could be given the Jonathan treatment because Jonathan also had 22 governors who endorsed him, just as we do now. And what happened? Jonathan lost woefully,” Ndume stated during the broadcast.

    The senator expressed concern that the APC may be growing complacent, highlighting a perceived disconnect between the political elite and grassroots supporters. He also criticized internal proposals, such as granting automatic tickets to incumbent lawmakers, which he believes could alienate the party from its base.

    “We are not learning our lesson. I pity Mr. President. Even though he once said this is not the time for campaigns, look around—the campaigning has already started under the guise of endorsements,” Ndume added.

    He emphasized that mere endorsements from governors or party leaders would not guarantee electoral success, urging the APC to heed the voices of ordinary Nigerians. “When the rumor surfaced that National Assembly members might receive automatic tickets, the party denied it. So, who will be the foot soldiers? You cannot rely solely on governors,” he said.

    Despite his criticisms, Ndume did not completely dismiss President Tinubu’s re-election prospects. He suggested that there is still time for the administration to implement people-centered policies that could improve public sentiment. “There’s still time to turn things around. The suffering we’re talking about is just within two years. If in the next two years the president can make Nigerians truly happy, then nobody will contest against him,” he concluded.

    In response to Ndume’s comments, APC Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim acknowledged the senator’s longstanding position within the party but reiterated the importance of party discipline. “Senator Ndume is a senior and respected member of the APC. This is not the first time he has publicly expressed his opinions about the governance of his party, sometimes voicing dissent,” Ibrahim stated.

    He added, “The APC is a party of liberal-minded individuals and does not shy away from diverse ideas, provided they do not violate the party’s constitution.”

    Ibrahim emphasized that while the party values internal democracy and freedom of expression, members must operate within established boundaries. “The party respects differing beliefs and advocates for reforms that promote freedom and equality. However, these must be pursued in a manner that does not contravene the established rules of acceptable behavior. Should any member act contrary to this, the party has mechanisms for addressing such issues, which are beyond my purview as a director,” he stated.

    In a  media briefing marking his second anniversary in office, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno emphasized his commitment to prudent financial management, stating that he is taking great care to avoid becoming a visitor to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after his tenure.

    Governor Eno addressed criticisms regarding his midterm scorecard and reiterated his dedication to the Blue Economy while highlighting the challenges governors face from public pressure to misuse state funds. He underscored that such pressures often lead former governors into legal troubles with anti-graft agencies.

    “I will not be swayed by external pressures to act recklessly with the state’s finances,” Eno asserted. “When I assumed office, I promised the people of Akwa Ibom that we would establish a sinking fund, ensuring that we set aside unspent funds each month. I am not one to frivolously distribute money, even to my own family.”

    He noted that money should be directed toward tangible goals and emphasized the importance of accountability in government spending. “Unfortunately, there is a prevailing sense of entitlement among some groups, who believe the government owes them. I have witnessed individuals claiming to be support groups for my administration, and when their expectations are not met, they threaten protests. I hope they do not escalate into security issues.”

    Eno remarked, “While I strive to provide good governance, it is unrealistic for these groups to expect financial handouts. I will operate within the legal framework and will not be led astray.”

    The governor also refuted claims circulating in certain media outlets that Akwa Ibom State received N650 billion in revenue over a three-month period. “Such figures are published quarterly, and the Freedom of Information Act allows for transparency. The notion of receiving N650 billion is misleading and harmful to our state’s reputation.”

    He continued, “If I could secure N200 billion a month, I would transform Akwa Ibom into a hub akin to Dubai. However, the reality is that we are doing our best with the resources available to us. Misreporting such figures only fuels unwarranted tensions with neighboring states, leading them to demand a share of our resources.”

    Governor Eno expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, which has aided various development projects benefiting the people of Akwa Ibom. He emphasized the need for accurate reporting to prevent misunderstandings and maintain harmony among states.

  • APC mocks Adeleke over collapsed Ido-Osun Road

    Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has openly mocked Governor Ademola Adeleke over the collapse of a newly constructed road in the Aduramigba area of Ido-Osun.

    Observers Times had reported that the road was reportedly washed away less than 24 hours after its completion.

    In a statement released on Sunday, APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi claimed the incident confirmed the party’s longstanding warnings about the alleged incapacity of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led administration to handle infrastructure development in the state.

    “Osun State is currently undergoing one of its most precarious moments in history. The state’s developmental progress has suffered tremendously under the minimalist and ineffective administration of Governor Adeleke for over two years now,” Olabisi stated.

    The APC criticised the Adeleke-led government for widespread incompetence and mismanagement across various sectors, alleging that the administration lacked both sincerity and technical capacity.

    “The people of Osun are witnessing the fallout of governance built on propaganda and misdirected priorities. One cannot give what he does not have,” he added.

    Olabisi further alleged that the governor’s actions in office had created hardship for residents, citing what he described as repeated governance blunders since Adeleke assumed office in 2022.

    He said, “If Governor Adeleke isn’t undermining the judiciary, he’s disrespecting traditional institutions. The courts are now reversing some of these poorly handled decisions.”

    The APC labelled the Aduramigba road project a clear example of the governor’s substandard development style.

    According to the party, “the road which stretches from the Trade Fair Complex through Adeleke Estate to Ido-Osun Junction was tarred on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, but collapsed after heavy rainfall on Thursday, 15 May 2025.”

    Residents of the community reportedly staged a protest following the incident, expressing frustration over the quality of the work and its rapid deterioration just one day after completion.

    “The project was executed using laterite instead of the approved stone base, which explains why it couldn’t withstand a single day of rain. It is disheartening that such critical infrastructure is subjected to these substandard practices,” Olabisi said.

    The APC called on the state government to disclose the identity of the contractor responsible and demanded an investigation into the matter. It also urged the reconstruction of the road using standard engineering materials and procedures.

    The party accused the administration of awarding contracts to individuals and firms lacking the required technical qualifications.

    “We have been proven right that contracts are being given to unqualified individuals, including fertiliser dealers who have no experience in road construction,” Olabisi claimed.

    He warned residents to exercise caution around government-led infrastructure projects, stressing that compromised construction standards could endanger lives and property.

    “Osun residents must be vigilant and demand accountability. The consequences of these substandard projects are far too dangerous to ignore,” the APC added.

    After the protest, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ordered a comprehensive review of a 4.76-kilometre road project in Aduramigba community, Ido-Osun, following protests by residents over alleged substandard construction work.

    Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement on Saturday confirmed that officials from the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Works, and the O-RAMP Project had been deployed to the area.

    The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has addressed concerns raised by opposition leaders regarding Nigeria potentially becoming a one-party state. Speaking to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, Ganduje stated that the APC would not object if Nigerians desire the party to control a majority of states and the federal government.


    Ganduje’s comments followed his introduction of three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators, reportedly from Kebbi State, who have agreed to defect to the APC, to President Tinubu.


    Responding to worries about a one-party system, Ganduje remarked, “If a one-party state is a wish and blessing to Nigeria… a one-party state is not by force, it is by negotiation and it is by other political parties seeing the effect of the positive governance of our party. If they decide to come to our party willingly, I think there is nothing wrong with that.”


    He further drew a comparison with China, stating, “Today China is one of the strongest countries in the world and it’s a one-party system. We are not saying we are working for a one-party system but if this is the wish of Nigerians, we cannot quarrel with that.” Ganduje also suggested that “too many political parties spoil governance.”


    Regarding the recent defections and the visit with the PDP senators, Ganduje explained that it aligns with President Tinubu’s initiative to democratically increase the APC’s numerical strength and the quality of its followership. He specifically highlighted the situation in Kebbi State, noting that extensive behind-the-scenes discussions and negotiations among key stakeholders had led to the three PDP senators’ decision to join the APC.


    “This is a good development and it is in consonance with what is happening in Nigeria today. Almost every week in the Senate and House of Representatives, you see members of other political parties decamping to our party,” Ganduje asserted. He added that their visit to the President was to secure his blessing for this resolution, which he graciously granted, hinting at developments expected in the Senate by Tuesday.
    Addressing potential concerns about the integration of new members, Ganduje assured that the party’s constitution and its political experience in managing such transitions would ensure a smooth process.

    A lawmaker, Sen. Garba Maidoki (PDP–Kebbi state), has attributed the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the on-going internal crises within the party.

    Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, Maidoki reacted to the defection of several PDP members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

    He described the political shift as “unfortunate,” warning that a one-party system was unhealthy for democracy.

    “A strong opposition is essential to keep the government in check and ensure the right actions and corrections are made.

    “But what we’re seeing today is a mass drift toward the APC, largely because the PDP has failed to put its house in order,” he said.

    Representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, Maidoki lamented the recurring crises within the PDP and expressed concerns over the party’s ability to organise a national convention.

    “Our governors, who should be stabilising forces, appear indifferent. As senators, we don’t have the resources to keep the party together. I remit 40 per cent of my salary to the PDP national headquarters, but that’s a drop in the ocean compared to what’s needed to run the party,” he said.

    Maidoki warned that if party leaders failed to take responsibility, the PDP might not survive as a viable political force in the near future.

    According to him, “We hope it’s not too late to get our act together. It’s in Nigeria’s interest.”

    “I’m not thinking about the next election. I’m thinking about what I can deliver before then. If I can make a difference, even a small one, that’s enough for me.”

    Governor Umo Eno has stirred speculation about a possible shift in political allegiance after publicly questioning the viability of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a platform for his political ambitions beyond 2027.

    Speaking during a constituency outreach on Tuesday in Ikot Akpankuk, Ukanafun Local Government Area, the governor compared the PDP to a malfunctioning aircraft and hinted that he may consider switching to a “different plane” to pursue his political goals—an analogy widely seen as a possible move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    “If you wanted to travel with Ibom Airline, and on the verge of taking off, it developed a fault that won’t enable it to fly, won’t you board the next available plane to take you to your destination?” Eno posed to a large gathering at the Town Square meeting for the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency.

    His comments come amid growing concerns over disunity and instability in the PDP, worsened by recent defections such as that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC.

    Despite his reservations about the PDP’s current state, Governor Eno encouraged his supporters to remain focused on the administration’s goals, stressing that effective governance remains his top priority.

    During the event, the governor distributed empowerment packages to over 400 residents, including Traders and Farmers Grants, substantial MSME funding, and equipment support.

    Specifically, 154 traders received financial grants, 116 farmers were supported, four individuals received N5 million each for business expansion, and 131 beneficiaries received equipment assistance.

    In his address, Governor Eno advised recipients to use the funds wisely and warned against investing in Ponzi schemes or unproductive ventures.

    “We need to meet with the people from time to time. Governance doesn’t end at elections,” he stated. “We’re here to listen, to assess your needs, and to let you know what we’ve done and what we plan to do.”

    He noted that the administration has so far covered four of the state’s ten federal constituencies in its outreach efforts and promised that all constituencies would be visited in time to factor their needs into the 2026 budget.

    “We will review your requests and prioritize based on available resources. What we can’t do now will be considered in future budgets,” he added. “This government belongs to the people—it is for you, with you, and by you.”

    While Governor Eno has not formally announced a defection, his recent statements have intensified conversations surrounding shifting political dynamics in Akwa Ibom State and the broader opposition landscape.

    Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has leveled serious accusations against Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Morka claims that Obi is inciting online harassment and death threats against him and his family.

    The controversy erupted following Obi’s assertions on his verified X account, where he stated that threats against his life, family, and associates had surged after his New Year message. Obi alleged that Morka had accused him of “crossing the line” and warned of “consequences” during an appearance on Arise TV on January 4, 2025.

    In a rebuttal issued on January 7, Morka vehemently denied these allegations, branding them “malicious lies” and “attention-seeking emotional blackmail.” He insisted that his remarks during the Arise TV interview were misinterpreted and did not constitute any form of threat against Obi or his family.

    “Nothing I said in that interview or elsewhere remotely suggests a threat against Mr. Obi or anyone,” Morka stated. He emphasized that the transcript of his comments clearly showed his remarks were focused on critiquing Obi’s political rhetoric and unfounded economic claims.

    During the interview, Morka had criticized Obi’s statements, labeling them as “irrational” and “maliciously deceptive,” particularly in relation to the Tinubu administration. He defended his assertion that Obi had “crossed the line so many times and has coming to him whatever he gets,” arguing that it was a response to what he described as Obi’s inflammatory language, including his characterization of the administration’s policies as “voodoo economics.”

    Morka went on to accuse Obi of inciting his online followers, whom he referred to as a “restless mob,” to issue threats and engage in harassment against him and his family. “By falsely claiming that I threatened his life, Mr. Obi has incited his online mob to make death threats against me and my family. This is not only unacceptable but reprehensible,” Morka said.

    He further criticized Obi for not condemning the behavior of his supporters, whom he accused of bullying and intimidating critics of the Labour Party’s political stance. “Mr. Obi has crossed the line of truth in his many assessments. His constant flip-flops and refusal to acknowledge progress demonstrate a lack of principled commitment and raise concerns about his leadership capabilities,” Morka added.

    In light of these developments, Morka has called on Obi to retract his allegations and issue a public clarification. He warned that he is prepared to take legal action to safeguard his reputation if the claims are not withdrawn.

    “Obi’s actions undermine democratic values and the sacred trust of the Nigerian people. He must act responsibly and refrain from peddling falsehoods in his quest for political relevance,” Morka concluded.

    *You recently caused us huge embarrassment at Urhobo Progressives Union (UPU) gathering, when you openly endorsed President Tinubu’s policies and programmes – this has raised eyebrows within the PDP. ”

    “Your statement, “If President Tinubu fails, I also fail,” has no other interpretation. It is a clear indication of your intention to join the APC.”

    “It is sad that you are openly identifying with the opposition in the state .”

    ” How can a governor elected under the platform of the PDP be doing this?*

    “It’s sad that this is coming from you, Your Excellency, who was resoundly elected on the platform of PDP”.

    “You openly betrayed the trust of our teeming party members when you canvassed support for a President, whose failure in governance was monumental. ”

    *An apparently naive media aide of your’s narrowly escaped being relieved of his appointment recently, when having wrongly interpreted your body language, criticised the inhuman policies and programmes of APC, nay Tinubu’s government. ”

    “The embattled aide was considered a spoiler in the planned odyssey.”

    “It took the intervention of well-meaning Deltans for the media aide to escape the sledge-hammers.”

    “What evidence do we need to confirm your defection talks with APC after the experience of the media aide?”

    “It’s more worrisome because the same your very self has been keeping grudges with party faithfuls found to be remotely associating with opposition elements.”

    *In your case, no one can challenge the boss.”

    “Why your sudden loss of faith in PDP? Is it because you knew that you could not win the return ticket on the platform of our party in view of your abysmal performance and policy of exclusion and winner takes all?”

    “With the government of “family affairs” deeply entrenched and policy of use and dump of especially, the critical elements who facilitated your emergence as the flagbearer of our party, you surely have a cause to worry about your fate in 2027. ”

    *But you missed the point by considering APC as a safe haven.

    As the leader of our great party in the state, your body language and actions have serious implications for our collective future.”

    “We cannot afford to have our party’s fortunes decimated and undermined by your personal ambition. ”

    *Our greatest worries are the teeming PDP representatives in various elective positions and other party faithfuls, who are desirous of contesting elections in 2027.”

    “Now that you, as governor and leader of the party, is planning to abandon it to contest under the APC, under what party should they express their aspirations? Or are they going to move along with you to the APC?”

    “These are mind bugling questions you must resolve quickly for everyone to know where they belong.

    You can no longer keep us in the dark or be silent about your intentions.*

    “In this respect, we demand transparency and openness, over your intent to jump ship.

    “We are entitled to know the truth. We ask that you address these grapevine stories and provide reassurance of your commitment to the PDP.*

    “The PDP has remained a beacon of hope and point of anchor for the people of Delta State since 1999. ”

    *We have worked tirelessly to build the party into a formidable force in the state.”

    *We therefore won’t allow anyone to scuttle our well- earned place in the hearts of the people.”

    *We will not stand idly and watch, while the party’s fortunes are undermined and frittered away through your inordinate desperation to remain as governor at all cost.”

    “In light of the foregoing, we urge you to clear the air and reassure us of your loyalty, integrity and unwavering commitment to the PDP. *

    “We await your prompt response.

    We will not accept to be treated like pawns in your political chess game. We deserve respect and transparency from you.*

    “In view of these developments, we urge you to reconsider your actions and reaffirm your commitment to the PDP. We are willing to work with you to resolve all issues that may be driving your desire to defect.”

    “However, if you refuse to address these concerns and continue on the path, we shall be forced to take necessary actions to protect the interests of the party.

    We hope that you will take our concerns seriously and respond immediately.”
