The Senate has confirmed the appointments of Mr Mohammed and Ms Rosemary Eyesan as the Chief Executives of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) respectively.
Their confirmations followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources during plenary on Tuesday.
Lawmakers described both nominees as experienced industry professionals whose appointments would strengthen regulatory oversight across Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain. The Senate noted that the duo met all requisite competence, character, and security-clearance requirements.
While addressing the chamber, the committee chairman said the appointments marked a significant step towards enhancing accountability, boosting industry efficiency, and ensuring stability in the petroleum sector.
With the Senate’s approval, Mohammed and Eyesan are expected to assume their roles immediately, taking charge of driving reforms in both the midstream and downstream segments, as well as the upstream regulatory space.
The Presidency is expected to issue their official letters of appointment in due course.
