The Russian Emergencies Ministry has delivered 313 tonnes of medicines to Iran as part of a humanitarian aid mission, local media reported on Friday. This shipment marks the second batch of medical supplies provided by Russia to the Iranian government.
The consignment was transported by rail to the border city of Astara, where Russian officials formally handed over the cargo to authorized Iranian representatives.
In a separate operation, Russia also dispatched additional humanitarian aid via Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijani media, a convoy of seven trucks carried more than 140 tonnes of supplies as part of the same mission.
The humanitarian effort was carried out on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Azerbaijani authorities supported the operation by facilitating the transit of the aid convoy.
