Prince Yahaya Audu has officially obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Kogi East Senatorial seat under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). Upon doing so, he declared that his candidacy marks the beginning of a “new dawn” for the people of the district.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters in Abuja, Audu lamented that Kogi East has endured years of weak and purposeless representation, which he claimed has sidelined the zone from the center stage of national politics. He assured supporters that a new narrative would unfold if he is elected, promising to place the people at the heart of governance.
“Kogi East was once a force in Nigeria’s political landscape. Today, our people are demanding representation that listens, responds, and delivers,” Audu said. “The NDC offers that alternative. My representation will make the people the fulcrum of every decision. The suffering caused by poor leadership must end; we will restore Kogi East to its rightful place in mainstream politics.”
He expressed gratitude for the growing support for the NDC in Kogi State, particularly across the Eastern Senatorial District, and called on citizens to embrace the party as the primary vehicle for purposeful representation and development.
Prince Yahaya Audu is a technocrat and grassroots mobilizer recognized for his consistent investment in youth empowerment, education, and community development across Kogi East. A firm believer in the “politics of service,” he has built a reputation for accessibility and integrity by engaging directly with communities long neglected by the political establishment. His professional background in public accounting, administration, and private sector management has equipped him with the practical experience necessary to translate policy into tangible results.
For many in Kogi East, Audu represents the pragmatic leadership the state desires—unassuming and untainted by the cycle of empty promises that has defined previous administrations. His campaign is anchored on restoring dignity to the district through quality legislation, responsive constituency engagement, and projects designed to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and expand opportunities for women and youth.
With the NDC gaining momentum in Kogi State, Audu’s entry into the senatorial race is seen as a bold step toward repositioning Kogi East as a powerful voice in the national discourse.
