President Tinubu Reappoints FCC Boss, Names 31 New Commissioners in Major Overhaul

Dr Muheeba Dankaka returns as Executive Chairman as fresh appointees emerge across all 36 states and the FCT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the nod for the reappointment of Dr Muheeba Dankaka as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for a second five-year term — a move seen as a strong endorsement of her stewardship at the helm of the Commission.

In a significant shake-up aimed at reinvigorating the FCC, President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mohammed Musa as the new Secretary of the Commission. Meanwhile, Kayode Oladele, the representative from Ogun State, retains his position as Commissioner.

Additionally, the President extended the tenures of three serving Commissioners:

  • Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa)
  • Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi)
  • Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun)

31 New Commissioners Appointed

In what marks a comprehensive refresh of the Commission’s membership, President Tinubu has appointed 31 new Commissioners to represent the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. The appointees, a mix of seasoned administrators, legal experts, engineers, and grassroots politicians, are as follows:

  7. Aligba Eugene Tarkende – Benue
  8. Engr. Modu Mustapha – Borno
  9. Dr Stella Odey Ekpo – Cross River
  10. Ederin Lovette Idisi – Delta
  11. Barr. Nwokpor Vincent Nduka – Ebonyi
  12. Hon. Chief Victor Sabor Edoror – Edo
  13. Hon. Sola Fokanle – Ekiti
