Eight lawmakers from House of Representatives of Nigeria representing constituencies in Kano State have formally defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape.

The defections were announced during plenary in the Green Chamber on Tuesday, in a move that underscores growing realignments ahead of future political contests.

The announcement was witnessed by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and former Kano governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alongside other party leaders and supporters.

The development signals a significant boost for the ruling APC and further reshapes Kano’s evolving political power balance.
