Superstar musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, has launched a scathing critique of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Umar Abba, amidst escalating political tensions in the state. In a series of posts and videos on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, Davido accused the commissioner of misconduct and vowed to hold him accountable.
Davido’s outburst included strong language, with messages such as, “Mr Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuku mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr Man!!!” and “Mr Commissioner, we die here. Mr Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!! All of us go mad together!!”
While the immediate trigger for Davido’s anger remains unclear, the singer has a history of speaking out on political issues, particularly those affecting his home state of Osun. His family has strong political connections, with his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, currently serving as governor.
The Osun State Police Command has yet to publicly respond to Davido’s accusations. However, the incident has ignited a firestorm of discussion online, with social media users debating the singer’s actions and the underlying political climate in Osun State.
Davido’s outburst comes against a backdrop of heightened political tensions between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Adding to the instability, the recently reinstated Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Remi Abass, was reportedly killed by gunmen on Monday, further raising concerns about security and political violence. SaharaReporters reports that the attack occurred at the local government secretariat, suggesting a possible link to the ongoing political turmoil. While no direct connection has been established between Davido’s comments and the recent violence, his strong words reflect the charged atmosphere in Osun State.
