The Kwara State Police Command has swiftly debunked a viral social media report alleging the abduction and murder of a female police officer in the state, describing the story as completely false.
The report, which circulated widely on social media, claimed that a female Police Inspector, serving as a prosecutor at a local police division, was abducted and later discovered dead in the Oloje area of Ilorin.
In response, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, issued a statement on Saturday, urging the public to disregard the report, which she labeled as “entirely false and deeply distressing.”
SP Ejire-Adeyemi further emphasized that such unverified information is harmful and causes unnecessary panic, warning against the spread of misleading news. She stated:
“The command wishes to state unequivocally that this report is not only false but also misleading, with the intent to cause panic in the state. Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard this misleading information, as there is no report of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division in the state.”
