The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is holding its first regular consultative meeting of the year with registered political parties at its Abuja headquarters as preparations for the 2027 general elections gain momentum.

Notably absent from the meeting is the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki.

In contrast, the rival PDP faction headed by National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, alongside factional National Chairman Abdul Rahman Mohammed, are in attendance.

Other major political parties are represented by their top leaders. The Labour Party’s National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, is present with National Secretary Senator Darlington Nwokocha, while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is represented by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and the party’s National Secretary.
