Suleiman Nazif, the former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially announced his resignation from the party. In a statement released on Friday, Nazif, who previously served as a senator representing Bauchi North, revealed his decision to defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

“This decision follows extensive consultations and is a response to the voices of the people I have always valued and respected throughout my political journey,” Nazif stated. He emphasized his ongoing commitment to democracy, nation-building, and the pursuit of a brighter future for Nigeria.

In his announcement, Nazif expressed his intention to join the SDP to help create a robust political platform that upholds democratic principles and promotes effective leadership recruitment in Nigeria.

Nazif’s departure adds to the growing trend of defection within the PDP, which has faced significant internal challenges and crises in recent times. He previously held influential roles within the party, including membership in both the national working committee and the board of trustees.
