The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has staged a protest against the alleged victimisation of one of its lawmakers, Ibraheem Shittu, who recently disclosed a N300 billion loan approval made by the state House of Assembly for Governor Seyi Makinde.
The demonstration took place at the party’s Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan, with the presence of the party chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, and other members, voicing their support for Shittu, who represents Saki West state constituency and was elected under the APC platform in 2023.
Shittu had raised concerns over the new loan approval, prompting reports that he had been receiving threatening messages. Addressing journalists, Alhaji Olayide Abas stated, “We are here to show our support to him for taking bold steps to stand against the loan. We are behind him.”
He added, “We are here to tell the governor that he should not send Oyo State to a perpetual loan collector. We are not satisfied with what is happening. What has the governor done with the previous loans?”
The rally was organised to ensure Shittu’s safety and express solid backing from the Oyo APC, with Abas warning, “I have the protest letter here. He should not be victimised. The process to take over Oyo State has started.”
